Astro’s On Demand (OD) service allows you to download programmes directly to your PVR decoder via an internet connection. You can then watch your chosen programmes at your convenience. Learn how to connect your PVR decoder to the internet.
Let's Begin!
STEP 1
Check to see if you have a PVR decoder or a PVR with Wi-Fi enabled decoder.
1) Lookout for the "PVR" and "Wi-Fi" logo located on the top right-hand corner of your decoder that indicates you have a PVR with Wi-Fi enabled decoder. You can choose to either connect via Wi-Fi or a LAN cable for internet connection.
2) Lookout for the "PVR" logo located on the top right-hand corner of your decoder that indicates you have a PVR decoder. Lookout for the "PVR" logo on the top right of your decoder. You can choose to either connect via a LAN cable or Astro Wi-Fi Dongle for internet connection.
3) If you can't see the PVR logo on your decoder (located on the top right-hand corner), it means your decoder cannot be connected to the internet. You can either:
- call Astro at 03-9543 3838 to upgrade your decoder to a PVR decoder; or
- upgrade on-line at www.astro.com.my/shop.aspx; or
- tune in to Channel 200 on Astro and follow the instructions on your TV screen.
STEP 2
Option 1: Only suitable for PVR with Wi-Fi enabled Decoder
How to Connect Via Wi-Fi
1) To connect your PVR to Wi-Fi network, you will need to turn on your TV and PVR decoder. To turn on your PVR decoder, press the "On/Off" button on your Astro remote control.
2) Press the "Home" button on your Astro remote control.
3) Upon pressing "Home" button on your Astro remote control, a "Menu" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Settings" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
4) Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Network" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
5) Next, use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Network Preference" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
6) Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Wi-Fi" on your TV screen and press "OK" using your Astro remote control.
7) Upon pressing "OK" button on your Astro remote control, the option "Yes, continue" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Press "OK" on your Astro remote control to select it and your decoder will be rebooted. Your TV screen will go blank for few seconds.
8) After your decoder reboots, press "Home" button on your Astro remote control.
9) Upon pressing "Home" button on your Astro remote control, a "Menu" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Settings" and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
10) Next, use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Network" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
11) Next, use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Wi-Fi" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
12) Upon pressing "OK" button on your Astro remote control, the option "New Connection" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Press "OK" on your Astro remote control to select it.
13) Your decoder will search for your home Wi-Fi network.
14) Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select your home Wi-Fi network, and Press "OK" on your Astro remote control to select the "Connect" option.
15) Begin entering your password using the keypad on your Astro Remote control. Once completed, press "OK" on your Astro remote control to connect to your decoder to your home Wi-Fi network.
16) Your decoder will begin connecting to your Wi-Fi network.
17) Lookout for this icon at the bottom of the "Menu". You are connected via your home Wi-Fi network when you see this icon.
18) Once you are connected, press the "Home" button on your Astro remote control. Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Video On Demand" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control to begin browsing the programmes on Video On Demand.
Option 2a: Suitable for all PVR decoders
How to Connect via LAN Cable
1) To connect your PVR with LAN cable, you will need to turn on your TV and PVR decoder. To turn on your PVR decoder, press the "On/Off" button on your Astro remote control.
2) To connect your PVR decoder, check if your Internet Modem has a LAN cable connected to it. Then, connect the LAN cable to the back of your decoder.
3) After you have plugged in the LAN cable to your decoder, press "Home" button on your Astro remote control.
4) Upon pressing "Home" button on your Astro remote control, a "Menu" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Settings" and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
5) Next, use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Network" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
6) Next, use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Network Preference" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
7) Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Enternet (Recommended)" on your TV screen and press "OK" using your Astro remote control.
8) Upon pressing "OK" button on your Astro remote control, the option "Yes, continue" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Press "OK" on your Astro remote control to select it and your decoder will be rebooted. Your TV screen will go blank for few seconds.
9) After your decoder reboots, press "Home" button on your Astro remote control.
10) Lookout for this icon at the bottom of the "Menu". You are connected via your LAN cable when you see this icon.
11) Once you are connected, press the "Home" button on your Astro remote control. Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Video On Demand" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control to begin browsing the programmes on Video On Demand.
Option 2b: Suitable for all PVR decoders
How to Connect Via Astro Wi-Fi Dongle
1) To get a Astro Wi-Fi Dongle, call Astro Customer Service 03 9543 3838 to purchase one at RM26.50
2) To connect your PVR with Astro Wi-Fi Dongle, you will need to turn on your TV and PVR decoder. To turn on your PVR decoder, press the "On/Off" button on your Astro remote control.
3) Locate the USB port at the front of the decoder.
4) Flip open the flap on the Astro Wi-Fi Dongle for better connection. Plug it into the USB port at the front of the decoder.
5) A "Menu" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Press "OK" on your Astro remote control to select "Yes, reboot now" option and your decoder will be rebooted. Your TV screen will go blank for few seconds.
6) After your decoder reboots, press "Home" button on your Astro remote control.
7) Upon pressing "Home" button on your Astro remote control, a "Menu" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Settings" and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
8) Next, use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Network" on your TV screen and press "OK" on
our Astro remote control.
9) Next, use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Wi-Fi" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control.
10) Upon pressing "OK" button on your Astro remote control, the option "New Connection" will appear at the bottom of the TV screen. Press "OK" on your Astro remote control to select it.
11) Your decoder will search for your home Wi-Fi network.
12) Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select your home Wi-Fi network, and Press "OK" on your Astro remote control to select the "Connect" option.
13) Begin entering your password using the keypad on your Astro Remote control. Once completed, press "OK" on your Astro remote control to connect to your decoder to your home Wi-Fi network.
14) Your decoder will begin connecting to your Wi-Fi network.
15) Lookout for this icon at the bottom of the "Menu". You are connected via your home Wi-Fi network when you see this icon.
16) Once you are connected, press the "Home" button on your Astro remote control. Use the "Arrow" button on your Astro remote control to select "Video On Demand" on your TV screen and press "OK" on your Astro remote control to begin browsing the programmes on Video On Demand.
